Sterling silver ring tarnishing?

My ring from James Avery has tarnish after wearing I for only a few hours!!! Why is it doin this and what can I do to stop it?? I even took it off to wash my hands

Some people's skin is highly acidic and will cause silver to tarnish. I would use a silver cleaner to clean it, rinse it well, and use a polishing cloth (available from Walmart) to buff it to a shine and then see if it still tarnishes quickly. You were smart to remove it to wash your hands. Always put on your hair products, cosmetics etc. without your jewelry on and then put it on last. Good luck!! : /
